Flexibility and efficiency for small lots
Turning from the bar can offer substantial advantages
when precision lathes are used universally for the pro-
duction of individual parts or small lots. So-called short
bars with lengths up to 1,200/1,600/2,200 mm are ideal
as stock in this case. The maximum length of material is defined by the respective spindle or spindle length.
The spindle of the lathe is equipped with a suitable spindle
filler tube, which serves as close-fitting guiding channel
for the workpiece bars. Suitable spindle extensions are available for bars that are longer than the machine spindle.
The automatic short bar loader ILS-RBK is designed
for frequent changing of the workpiece bars and for fast, trouble-free operation. Everything is aimed at improving
turning efficiency. For example, the magazine can be re- loaded by the operator without stopping the machine.
Loading is performed by a two-step feed, which
pushes the workpiece bar into the spindle or spindle filler
tube of the lathe under control. A pusher rod then positions
the bar in the chuck. With their close guiding of the bars,
the spindle filler tubes guarantee vibration-free precision machining, especially also of square or hexagonal work-
piece bars.
Thanks to the minimal set-up work required and
integration of fully automatic loading in the turning process, small lots can already be produced with top efficiency.
